EX. The French and Native Americans were partners in the fur trade along the St. Lawrence River in what is now Canada allowing them to keep their traditions and creating mutual dependency. This was during the 16th century. This is important to colonization because it shows that Native Americans could be treated as partners and be part of the community. Accepting diversity is part of the American Dream
